Press ⌘1 for the System tab. The sidebar is one page. From the top:
- A status line that counts your speakers by how their positions were set, for example 4 speakers: 2 measured, 2 estimated.
- Speakers, with your speaker groups and each speaker’s settings and position.
- Mics.
- Listening position and Coverage area.
- Reference wires.
- Redo spatial setup…, pinned to the bottom, which opens the setup wizard at its spatial steps.
The Speakers header shows the count, for example 2 stereo · 0 mono. Click Edit for the Stereo pairs and Mono speakers steppers, and Done to fold them away. Mics has its own Edit with a Microphones stepper. Changing a count keeps your positions, names and routing.
Reference wires lists each wire (Reference wire 1, Reference wire 2…). Its header says which reference mode the wires give you: Virtual (no reference wires), Single reference or Multiple reference.
Expand a speaker’s row to set:
- Speaker class and Speaker type (see below)
- Orientation: Horizontal or Vertical
- Speaker output: the output it plays from (Output 1, Output 2…)
- Trim (dB)
- Position (m) and Down-tilt (°) (see Positions)
A group’s settings sit below its member rows: Speaker class, Speaker type and Orientation, applied to every member. A group of exactly two speakers also has two switches, each with an ⓘ button that explains it:
- Stereo pair (the switch reads Left and right channels): “Each member plays its own side: the one on your left plays Play L, the other plays Play R. Off: both play Play L+R. Turning this on also turns on Mirror placement.”
- Mirror placement: “Positioning and alignment treat the two as mirror images about the centre line. This does not change what they play. Off: each member keeps its own fitted position.” For what it does to delays, see Timing.
A group’s Cabinets count sets how many cabinets make up each of its speakers. In Side view a line array draws as a curved hang of up to 24 cabinets.
Speaker type offers Auto (from role/type), which picks a cabinet from the speaker’s role and type, and 19 cabinet types:
- Subwoofer (single 18")
- Subwoofer (single 15")
- Subwoofer (single 12")
- Line Array Element
- D'Appolito MTM
- Floor Wedge / Stage Monitor
- Large Studio Monitor (ATC)
- Large Studio Monitor (floor-standing)
- Studio Monitor (2.5-way)
- Studio Monitor (3-way)
- Bookshelf 2-way
- Studio Monitor (nearfield)
- PA Top (2-way, 15" + horn)
- Horn-loaded Subwoofer
- Subwoofer (dual 18", touring)
- Horn-Loaded Stack (point-source)
- Flush Mount (in-wall / in-ceiling)
- Flush Mount 3" (pillar / dash)
- Flush Mount Tweeter (pillar)
Each cabinet is drawn at its real size in the 2D plan, smaller only where cabinets would overlap, and rotated to its aim.
Each speaker has Position (m) (X, Y, Z, in metres to 2 decimal places) and Down-tilt (°). One word beside it says where the position came from:
- Measured: AudioMap measured it.
- Typed: you typed it.
- Confirmed: you accepted it with Confirm position.
- From a host: an app controlling AudioMap set it.
- Estimated: AudioMap placed it and nobody has checked it yet.
Automatic placement never overwrites a position you typed or confirmed. It only moves positions that are still estimated. While playback is on, the position fields are locked: Stop playback to edit positions.
Listening position holds the Seat (X, Y, Z in metres) and a Centred switch. Turning Centred on sets X to 0.00. Typing any other X turns it off, and the sidebar says so: No longer centred: you typed X.
Coverage area folds to one line, for example 1.00 m, 9 points. Click Edit for:
- Area: the radius, from 0.10 to 5.00 m
- Pts: how many measurement targets the area gets
- Extend coverage toward the speakers, which adds a Breadth slider
See Coverage area in the setup guide.
The spatial plot appears on every tab. Choose the view with Top, Front or Side, and the projection from the projection menu: 2D, Orthographic or Perspective.
On the System tab’s plot, in the 2D or Orthographic projection:
- Drag a speaker to move it.
- In Top view, drag a selected speaker’s aim handle to turn it. Within 4° of pointing at the listening position, or of a 15° step, the aim snaps to it.
- ⌘-drag on empty floor to draw a selection box. Shift-click or ⌘-click adds to the selection.
Dragging is off while playback is on.
Right-click a speaker for:
- Mute (or Unmute) and Show in Tuning
- Aim at listening position, once there is a listening position
- Speaker type
- Its group’s submenu (named after the group), or Group to add it to one
- Rename… and Remove speaker…
With several speakers selected, the menu offers Mute all, Group these speakers, Aim all at listening position, Speaker type and Remove N speakers….
Right-click a group’s outline for Mute group, Show group in Tuning, Rename group…, Ungroup and Remove group and its speakers…. A two-speaker group adds Left and right channels (Stereo pair) and Mirror placement.
While playback is on, the menus leave out the items that change the layout: aiming, speaker type, grouping and removing.
