Calibration
Round-Trip Latency Calibration
Measure interface loopback delay for accurate timing analysis
What RTL Calibration Does
Measures the total delay through your audio interface (output → cable → input). This compensates generated test signals to match the timing of physical reference inputs.
Reference Mode Comparison
Multiple Reference: Compares physical reference input → physical mic input. Both go through interface, so no RTL compensation needed.
Single/Virtual Reference: Compares generated signal (RTL-compensated) → physical mic input. RTL calibration ensures generated signal timing matches physical reference.
Calibration Procedure
1
Verify loopback cable connected
Physical cable from output channel → input channel (or use Y-cable splitter)
2
Select output and input channels for measurement
Choose which channels to use for calibration loopback
3
Click "Start Calibration"
AudioMap automatically:
- • Generates test signal on output
- • Measures loopback on input using cross-correlation
- • Adjusts FFT size if needed
- • Displays measured latency
4
Review measured latency
USB interfaces:100-300 samples
Thunderbolt/PCIe:40-100 samples
When to Recalibrate
Recalibrate after changing audio devices, sample rates, or buffer sizes. RTL varies with interface configuration.
