Plugin 2.0

The AudioMap plugin plays your AudioMap correction inside a DAW. It runs the same correction engine as the app and opens your project file directly, with no export step.

AU and VST®3, for macOS 13 or later, Apple silicon. The AudioMap 2 installer installs the plugin, and it replaces AudioMap Plugin 1.x.

Playback needs AudioMap Standard, Pro or a trial. The plugin reads its licence from AudioMap on the same Mac, so AudioMap must be installed and signed in there. Without it, audio passes through unchanged and the plugin shows an Upgrade link.

Each instance is stereo in, stereo out. There’s no AAX version, so Pro Tools can’t load it.

  1. In AudioMap 2, save your project.
  2. Put the plugin on the DAW track or bus that feeds the speakers you want to correct.
  3. Click Open… and choose the project (.json). A correction profile (.amcp) also opens.
  4. Pick the group this instance plays in the Group box.

The plugin keeps a copy of the correction in your DAW session. Press Reload after you change the project in AudioMap to read the file again.

The delay, gain and polarity saved for each speaker play along with the correction. The alignment delay isn’t reported to the DAW as latency, so delay compensation won’t cancel it.

Coming from Plugin 1.0.1

Save the project once in AudioMap 2 before you open it in the plugin. An older file still plays, without a saved delay, gain or polarity, and the plugin tells you: This file has no saved delay, gain or polarity. Save the project again in AudioMap to add them. For an older .amcp it says Export it again from AudioMap to add them.

The Group box lists the groups saved in your project. Each instance plays one group on its two outputs. For a sound system with several groups, use one instance per group.

The two output pickers, at the right end of the plot’s chip row, show which speaker each output plays. You can set them by hand, and Same speaker sends one speaker to both outputs. Then the Group box reads Custom.

A group with more than two speakers plays two of them, and the plugin says so: Plays 2 of the N speakers in <group>. Add another instance for the rest.

The plugin plays the correction mode saved in the project and reports its latency to your DAW, so delay compensation keeps the session lined up.

  • Zero latency and Minimum phase: no added latency.
  • Mixed phase, Excess phase only and Linear phase: 4095 samples, at any sample rate.

The status line shows the mode and its latency while it plays, for example, at 48 kHz, Playing the correction. Linear phase, 85.3 ms latency.

To play a different mode without going back to AudioMap, use the Correction mode menu. As saved (the default) plays the project’s mode. The other choices are Zero latency, Minimum phase, Mixed phase, Excess phase only and Linear phase, each with its description in the menu. See Correction modes.

  • Bypass (the power button): lit means the correction plays. Off passes audio through unchanged. If this Mac’s licence doesn’t include playback, audio passes through unchanged either way.
  • Wet/Dry: 0 to 100%, default 100%. It works in Zero latency and Excess phase only. In Minimum phase, Mixed phase and Linear phase it has no effect: the knob shows a dash and its tooltip reads No effect in <mode>.
  • Target: As saved keeps the project’s target curve. Linear Tilt, Baxandall Tilt and Harman In-Room replace it.
  • Tilt: ±12 dB. It shows with Linear Tilt, or under As saved when the file’s target is Linear Tilt. Baxandall Tilt has Bass and Treble instead.
  • Output trim: -24 to +12 dB.

Bypass, Wet/Dry, Tilt, Output trim, and Baxandall Tilt’s Bass and Treble can be automated. Correction mode and Target can’t. Plugin 1.0.1’s two frequency-limit parameters are still listed for old sessions, but they do nothing.

The plot shows the speaker on each output, with the same chips as AudioMap’s Tuning tab. Measured is the measurement saved in the file and Inverted is that response turned upside down. Tilt, Applied and Corrected are drawn from what the plugin is playing now. Applied and Corrected follow your Correction mode. Corrected is the measurement with the EQ bands applied, and the target plays on top of it, so a Target or Tilt change moves the Tilt trace. Target and Tilt changes in the plugin stay in the plugin: they don’t change the project in AudioMap.

The In and Out meters show each channel’s level: a bar for RMS and a tick for the peak.

Until the DAW starts audio, the plot shows the measurement only (Not playing yet. Showing the file’s measurement only.).

When you run one instance per group, the instances can follow each other. Open Instances and turn on Link this instance. Linked instances share Bypass, Wet/Dry, Tilt, Target, Correction mode and the file. Group, the output pickers and Output trim stay separate for each instance.

The Instances picker tells you what it sees, for example Linked to 2 others. If linked instances drift apart, it shows Settings differ. Press Match the others to this one to line them up. Reload on any linked instance reloads them all.

An AU and a VST3, or instances the host runs separately, don’t see each other. The panel says This instance sees no other AudioMap instance.

  • Playback needs AudioMap Standard, Pro or a trial. Audio passes through unchanged. Hover it for the reason, for example Sign in to AudioMap on this Mac to use your licence here.
  • No correction loaded. Audio passes through unchanged. Click Open… and choose your project.
  • Loaded. Correction starts when the host starts audio.
  • Can’t find <file>. The file isn’t where the plugin looked.
  • Couldn’t read a correction from <file>. The file is there but didn’t load.
  • After either of those, a second sentence says what plays now: Still playing the copy already loaded., Still playing <file>. or Bypass is on. when something was loaded before, or Audio passes through unchanged. when nothing was.
  • Bypassed. Audio passes through unchanged.

Use the plugin when the audio comes from your DAW. Use AudioMap Bridge for audio from the rest of your Mac. Plugin 2.0 has no standalone app.
