Taking Your First Measurement
Use auto-capture to measure multiple positions by simply walking through your venue
The Auto-Capture Workflow
AudioMap's auto-capture system lets you measure an entire venue by walking from position to position. The system tracks your microphone location in real-time and automatically captures measurements when you reach each target.
The Process in 3 Steps
Start Auto-Capture
Click the Auto-Capture button. This automatically enables tracking and signal generation.
Position Microphone & Wait
Place mic at target (arm's length or on stand). System detects position and auto-triggers capture.
Move & Repeat
After capture completes, move to next position. Repeat for all targets.
Before You Start
Audio Setup
- Audio interface configured and tested
- Reference mode selected (Virtual or Hardware)
- Microphone calibrated for accurate measurements
Measurement Setup
- Target positions defined in Location tab
- Walking route planned for efficient measurement
- Quiet environment with minimal background noise
Essential Controls
Main Toolbar Buttons
Tracking
Press FirstEnables both cross-correlation tracking AND signal generator (pink noise at -18dB)
Generator
OptionalManual control of pink noise output (automatically activated by Tracking button)
Auto-Capture
Press SecondThe primary control for automated measurement sequences. This is a prominent text button in the app, separate from the toolbar icons.
Keyboard Shortcuts
Multi-source control: Number keys control individual generators. With 2 sources: 1 and 2 toggle each source. With 3 sources: 1, 2, and 3, etc.
Quick Tip
Use keyboard shortcuts for faster workflow once you're familiar with the interface. The most common sequence is T → A

Visual Feedback Colors
The system uses color-coded feedback to guide you:
- Purple - Get ready, first measurement starting soon
- Blue - Move to the next target position
- Orange - Hold steady! You're in position, about to capture
- Red - Measuring now with specific source active
- Green - Position successfully captured
- Gray - Auto-capture disabled

Time Sequence Capture Technology
AudioMap automates the complex orchestration that traditionally requires multiple operators. The system manages signal routing, timing synchronization, and data capture automatically.
Key Technologies
- Cross-correlation tracking - Synchronizes timing between source and receiver
- Automatic routing - Manages signal paths between speakers and measurement system
- Real-time analysis - Processes frequency and phase data instantly
Benefits
- Single operator can perform venue-wide measurements
- Consistent timing and signal levels at every position
- Eliminates human error in measurement coordination
Tips for Success
Best Practices
Environment Setup
- ✓Minimize background noise during measurements
- ✓Close doors and windows if possible
- ✓Avoid HVAC systems during capture
Microphone Positioning
- ✓Keep microphone at consistent height
- ✓Aim for smooth movements between positions
- ✓Stay within 2cm of target for best results
Troubleshooting & Workflow
Measurement Workflow
- ✓Complete all positions in one session
- ✓Save measurements after each complete set
- ✓Review results before moving equipment
Common Issues
Tracking Lost
Move microphone more slowly between positions
No Sound Output
Check audio interface routing and volume levels
Position Not Detected
Ensure you're within the 2cm target zone
