Measurement Wizard

Step-by-step guided setup for room geometry, speaker placement, coverage areas, and measurement positions

What is the Measurement Wizard?

The Measurement Setup Wizard guides you through configuring a measurement session from scratch. It walks through five pages — room geometry, speaker placement, coverage setup, listening position, and final review — so that your spatial data, coverage targets, and measurement positions are all correctly configured before you start capturing.

1

Room Geometry

Define the physical space where measurements will be taken.

What This Page Does

Set room dimensions (width, depth, height)
Draw room outline using interactive 2D editor
Support for rectangular, L-shaped, and custom polygonal rooms
Set units (meters or feet)
Room geometry is used for spatial mapping, reflection analysis, and surface inference

Tip

Accurate room dimensions improve surface inference and reflection analysis. Measure carefully.

2

Speaker Identification

Place and configure the speakers (sources) in your system.

What This Page Does

Add speakers by clicking on the room diagram
Set speaker name, type, and orientation
Configure coverage angle and aim direction
Assign source channels from your audio interface
Support for multiple speaker zones and arrays

Tip

Position speakers accurately on the diagram — this affects coverage arc calculations and spatial mapping.

3

Coverage Setup

Define coverage areas and generate measurement target positions.

What This Page Does

SDF-based semicircle coverage arcs per source
Adjustable arc radius and angle
Line segment keepout zones for aisles and obstacles
Automatic target position generation within coverage areas
Grid-based or custom measurement position layouts

Tip

Use coverage arcs to focus measurements on the actual audience area. Add keepout zones for walkways.

4

Listening Position

Set the primary listening position for reference measurements.

What This Page Does

Mark the primary listening position on the room diagram
This position serves as the reference for system tuning
Used as the optimization target for auto-EQ
Can be set to front-of-house (FOH) position for live sound
Multiple reference positions supported for complex systems

Tip

The listening position is where your system tuning will be optimized. Choose the most critical seat.

5

Measurement Completion

Review settings and begin the measurement session.

What This Page Does

Summary of all configured settings
Verification of audio routing and signal path
Quick-check that generator output reaches speakers
Start automated measurement capture sequence
Spatial auto-capture activation

Tip

Run a quick test measurement before starting the full session to verify levels and coherence.

Coverage Arcs & Auto-Capture

AudioMap's coverage system uses SDF-based (Signed Distance Field) semicircle shapes per source to define coverage areas. The system automatically generates measurement target positions within these areas and can auto-capture measurements as you move to each position.

Target Generation

The MeasurementTargetManager automatically generates target positions within coverage arcs based on your grid spacing and keepout zones.

Auto-Averaging

When a measurement target is fulfilled (measurement taken at that position), RMS auto-averaging is applied to combine multiple captures at the same location.

Completion Dialog

The AutoCaptureCompletionDialog shows progress through your target list and indicates which positions still need measurement.
